Google defines algorithms as“computer programs designed to navigate through billions of pages, identify good clues and send exactly the answer to your question.”

When these algorithms are updated is called Google Dance because the websites’ ranking on search engines has good chance to change.

Here are the 3 main algorithms of Google you need to know to avoid or correct a penalty.

GOOGLE PIGEON

Google Pigeon is the code name given to Google latest local search algorithm on July 24, 2014. It aims to provide more relevant and accurate local search results.

This new algorithm Pigeon has for main to improve the user experience on geographically targeted queries (for example, restaurant in Montreuil, dentists in Paris etc.)

Pigeon includes improvements in spell checking, Knowledge Graph and treatments synonyms. This algorithm provides more visibility to large directories.

It is now only launched to English speaking countries.

GOOGLE PENGUIN

Algorithm to catch excessive spammers

Google Penguin is a codename for a algorithm launched on April 24, 2012. The update is aimed at decreasing search engine rankings of websites that violate Google Guidelines.

The Penguin algorithm is an anti spam filter to catch excessive spammers and to penalize websites using abusive netlinking techniques.

If you had a Penguin penalty, you can get out. You have to:

– Analyze inbound links to your site with

– Clean backlinks (bad links)

– Create new links

– Contact webmasters that delete your bad links.

 

Since 2012, it has been deployed 3 times continuously with no end date.

GOOGLE PANDA

Algorithm for low quality content

Google Panda is the name of Google algorithm launched on February 2011 . It owes its name to an engineer who worked on its conception:  Navneet Panda.
The update aimed to lower rank of low quality sites (backlinks, duplicate content, content spinning etc…)

It penalize the ranking of low quality websites in search engine results.

Websites often affected by this filter are:

– Review sites

– Price comparators,

– Discount codes

– E-commerce websites …

 

If you had a Panda penalty, you can get out, you have to:

– Remove low quality pages /content

– Remove useless pages, similar, no adde value
